Objective: An experimental investigation was carried out to study the size effect on concrete specimens. Methods: In order to study the size effect compressive and split tensile test were conducted on standard and high strength concrete (M30 and M60) specimens of two different sizes of cubes (150 x 150 x 150 mm and 100 x 100 x 100 mm) and cylinders (150 x 300 mm and 100 x 200 mm) made of natural and artificial sand. In addition to this, the flexural strength test was also conducted for beam (500 x 100 x 100 mm) to compare the flexural strength of the beams made of natural and artificial sand. Findings: The result showed that the larger size concrete specimen fails at a lower stress than a smaller one and it was also observed that there was no significant variation in the strength with two sizes considered. The mechanical properties obtained with natural sand and artificial sand indicates that strength obtained for artificial sand was higher than that of natural sand for both M30 and M60 grade of concrete. Applications/Improvements: From this study, it was concluded that the standard cube of 150 x 150 x 150 mm and 100 x 100 x 100 mm can be used interchangeably for the test purpose. Similarly, for split tensile strength, standard cylinder of 150 x 300 mm and 100 x 200 mm can be used interchangeably.Keywords

ICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, Vol 1, No 3 (2011), Pagination: 166-171Abstract
This paper proposes a simple but efficient scheme for colour image retrieval, based on statistical tests of hypothesis, namely test for equality of variance, test for equality of mean. The test for equality of variance is performed to test the similarity of the query and target images. If the images pass the test, then the test for equality of mean is performed on the same images to examine whether the two images have the same attributes / characteristics. If the query and target images pass the tests then it is inferred that the two images belong to the same class i.e. both the images are same; otherwise, it is assumed that the images belong to different classes i.e. both the images are different. The obtained test statistic values are indexed in ascending order and the image corresponding to the least value is identified as same / similar images. The proposed system is invariant for translation, scaling, and rotation, since the proposed system adjusts itself and treats either the query image or the target image is sample of other. The proposed scheme provides cent percent accuracy if the query and target images are same, whereas there is a slight variation for similar, transformed.Keywords

In business world the logistics is a word that defines the elements of necessary in production, movement of goods, distribution of materials and goods around the world. Nowadays the technology is developing in the logistics industry that usually relies with the workers in handling of high- tech information systems on orders and monitor products in the process of supply chain in the industry. In every aspects technology intensely changing entities function in the logistics industry. In this industry the Transportation Management System (TMS) in communication technology covers the applications like the Bluetooth, Global positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) technology increase the efficiency of the work to do. In this paper the development of technology in communication technology on tracking system of GPS and GIS were explained in the logistics industry especially in transportation of goods by roadway and the researcher mainly focuses on the secondary data information on advancement in communication technology on logistics.Keywords

Herbal medicines are promising choice over modern synthetic drugs. They show minimum or no side effects and are considered to be safe. Medicinal plant Dyschoriste littoralis was studied for wound healing activity in induced wounded male rats. This herb was selected after an extensive survey of the folk literature and advice from the practicing physicians of Siddha systems of medicine. This plant is used in indigenous medicine against various health conditions. The objective of the present work is to study the wound healing effects of ethanol extract of D. littoralis on animal models. The results of this study indicate that ethanolic extracts of Dyschoriste littoralis have good potentials for use in wound healing. This report claims the traditional use of the selected medicinal plants against the wound healing activity.Keywords
